5 Reasons Why Getting a Tattoo is Important

Are you thinking about getting a tattoo? While it’s not necessary to have one in order to prove that you’re an interesting person, there are definitely many benefits of getting one, like honoring loved ones or commemorating important events in your life. If you’re still hesitant to get one, here are five reasons why getting a tattoo is so important!

1) Own your story

Whether you have many tattoos or just one, you should feel comfortable and proud of your ink. You’re not defined by your tattoo, but it can certainly be an important part of who you are. For example, in my case, I got my tattoo shortly after graduation as a way to celebrate getting out into the real world. But don’t stop there: How will people react? What’s more likely to happen: that someone judges you negatively or that they ask about it and get excited when they hear your story? Both are totally possible, but I’d put my money on the latter happening more often—and if you’re honest with yourself and others about what your tattoos mean to you and why you got them, those conversations will be easier to navigate.

2) Don’t be afraid to express yourself

If you have an idea for a tattoo, don’t be afraid to express yourself. Some people feel that having tattoos make you appear unprofessional or in some way threaten your career advancement. This belief could not be further from the truth, with studies showing that tattoos don’t affect how employers view candidates. In fact, many high-powered companies like Google and Bank of America even offer free cover-up tattoo services to employees who want them. As long as your tattoo isn’t offensive or sexist, think of it as another form of self-expression. If you enjoy having your body art, then get it! You shouldn’t let what others think hold you back from something that makes you happy.

3) Show your true colors

A tattoo is an excellent way to show off your personality or commemorate an important event in your life. Our skin reflects our inner emotions, so it makes sense that getting inked can help you truly express yourself. The next time you’re thinking about getting a tattoo, ask yourself why you want one and what it will mean to you when you see it every day. Make sure that motivation rings true—once your tattoo heals, there’s no going back! Nowadays, tattoos aren’t just limited to arms and legs; even bikini areas are fair game for ink lovers. Whether large or small, color or black-and-white, a great design makes for an amazing look. And don’t worry about matching: Wear your tattoos with pride!

4) Represent your culture, family, or personality

Your tattoo represents your culture, family, or personality. It can tell others about who you are and where you came from. Some people get tattoos to represent something that’s important to them, whether it be an ideal, a religion, or an aspect of their life. Others get them simply because they like how they look on themselves! A tattoo is an artistic representation of yourself or part of yourself in a way that words can’t express. For some people it’s empowering and for others it’s just art. Whatever your reason for getting one may be, remember: you live with your tattoos forever. Choose wisely! No pressure though ????

5) Live in the moment

Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Remember to live your life in every moment and to take time to smell the roses. You only get one shot at life, so don’t let it go by without doing something that makes you proud. Get a tattoo today. It will always remind you of how much of an impact your first tattoo had on your life and help show others how strong-willed you are to do things out of ordinary.
